The idea for Biqualys was initiated early 2006. dr Jacques Vervoort and dr Henk Van As, both associate professor at Wageningen University (NL), were in desperate need for new and expensive LC-NMR-MS and UPLC-FTMS equipment, but the funding was delayed over and over again. The Wageningen Business Generator (Technology Transfer Office) brought the idea forward to test the feasibility of a company to sell commercial analytical services to bypass the funding issues.
Biqualys Management Team consists of Chris van der Plasse, Jacques Vervoort, Henk Van As.
Biqualys has 6 shareholders: the three founders and Wageningen University, Mibiton Foundation and Biox Biosciences. The supervisory board of Biqualys has three members: Peter Folstar, Jan van der Hoeven and Hans van den Berg. The scientific advisors are prof dr R. Witkamp and prof dr ir I. Rietjens.
