Biqualys is a Dutch contract laboratory and offers extremely accurate analysis of complex mixtures in order to quantify and identify their molecular composition, using LC-SPE-NMR-MS (Bruker 600 MHz with cryoprobe and MicroTOF ) and UPLC-FTMS (Thermo-Orbitrap).
Usually NMR and MS are two distinct fields of expertise and they rarely meet. The great thing about combining them is that strengths are better utilised. Identification of (unknown) compounds is virtually impossible with only MS, since there are always multiple possibilities.
In many cases a number of possibilities can be ruled out, but unique identification can never be guaranteed. With LC-NMR-MS an extra step can be taken to identify (isomeric) compounds. (Proteins, sugars, small molecules, metabolites, etc.). MS and NMR as complementary methods are particularly useful for online bio-assays to characterise systems biological processes and to identify biomarkers and fingerprints.
